Al Dizon Bansil, 43, and a resident of Sharjah has been declared the grand prize winner of the annual ‘Al Ansari Rewards – Summer Promotion 2017’. He took home 1-M dirhams (roughly P13.94-M based on the current exchange rate) on Wednesday, August 23.
Another lucky overseas Filipino worker (OFW), Sylvia Lizardo Valdez, also won a brand new Nissan Patrol while 8 other expatriates took 10,000 dirhams each in consolation prizes.
In an interview with Gulf News, Bansil, who works as a quantity surveyor for a construction company, he was at work when he received a call telling him he prequalified for the grand draw.
“Then when the grand draw was being held earlier, I was really nervous. I prayed to win… and I did,” said Bansil, who has been an OFW in UAE for more than a decade. “I badly wanted to win because this is a chance of a lifetime. It’s definitely going to change my life and my family’s life.”
Bansil is now planning to go home to Pampanga but still has not decided yet where to invest his money.
“I don’t want to think of it for now. My priority is to go home to be with my family for this special occasion,” he said.
The Filipino engineer, a regular customer of Al Ansari remittance center, got his winning ticket from a remittance of Dh 3,677 (P51,000) he sent to his wife in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, aside from Bansil and Valdez, other winners who took home the Dh 10,000 consolation prize each are Kudzai Lisa Mhondoro from Zimbabwe, Taurej Alam from India, Saif Rashid from the UAE, Alamgir Jaru Miah from Bangladesh, Al Shazly Abdul Hafeez Mohamadin from Egypt, Minimon Kassim Kunju from India, Abdullah Taher Al Ganem from Saudi Arabia and Mohammad Yaqoob from Pakistan.
