Their Blenheim Palace venue was adorned with 1 million flowers.
A billionaire's son and his model girlfriend tied the knot at Blenheim Palace this weekend and with an estimated cost of $6.4 million, it was a far cry from the average summer wedding.
Folarin Alakija is the son of Nigerian oil tycoon Folorunsho Alakija, who has been ranked as the 18th richest person in Africa by Forbes and one of the worlds most riches black woman. He's said to have met Iranian-born Nazanin Jafarian Ghaissarifar while studying in London and it's safe to say that this bride and groom's big day was every bit the fairy tale.
It's believed that hiring the Oxfordshire aristocratic home, which is the main residence of the Duke of Marlborough, would have cost around $190,000. And when it came to decorating the historic venue, no expense was spared.
Wedding pictures shared on social media by guests (including Victoria's Secret Angel Shanina Shaik) showed the couple during their first dance on a marble floor covered with their initials in gold.
Celebrity florist Jeff Leatham took charge of the flowers and transformed the palace into a "white wedding." Leatham, the artistic director of the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, reportedly arranged 1 million white blooms around the venue.
The event included a 12-foot wedding cake, which was also covered in flowers. The wedding cake alone is said to have cost only £10,000, and a five-course menu from caterers Searcy's. To end the evening, there was a performance from Robin Thicke followed by a fireworks display.
As for Nazanin's dress, she chose a strapless white gown adorned with lace during the day, but is said to have changed into a party dress in the evening.
Commenting on the cost of the occasion, Bridebook.co.uk's founder, Hamish Shephard, told Harper's Bazaar: "Venue hire would likely be up to $190,000 with the bespoke marquee with marble floor and production around $250,000 on top. The spectacular endless flowers by Jeff Leatham are likely to have cost at least $256,000. With food and drink, Robin Thicke (at $190,000) and all the other items for the big day, including the dress, on top, the wedding will have no doubt cost more than $1.3 million and potentially several million more."
The couple got engaged last year and had a traditional Nigerian wedding in Lagos in November, the Daily Mail reports. Folarin is an entrepreneur, while his new wife Nazanin has a degree in bioengineering and biomedical engineering from the University of Manchester.
